Skyfall news roundup: November 2 2012

Well, Skyfall managed to smash the UK box office record for the opening weekend for a 2D film. The film has been widely hailed as the best ever by cinema audiences, although how much of that is down to a four year wait since Quantum of Solace, which was widely seen as disappointing, is anyone's guess. In the end Skyfall had the best ever opening week for a film in the UK.

Well it's been a big week for Skyfall, with the general release in cinemas today. Earlier in the week cast and starts galore assembled in London for the Royal World Premiere at the Royal Albert Hall where it was shown to an enthusiastic audience in front of Prince Charles and Camilla.

The first reviews for Skyfall were published after Skyfall was screened to invited press and media. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with scarcely a negative comment.

Daniel Craig said in an interview that Bond 24 was coming "sooner rather than later", hopefully indicating a two year gap before release in 2014, and Sam Mendes said he would do another Bond if he could match what he'd done on Skyfall.

Finally, Coke Zero launched a viral marketing campaign online.

This week the Skyfall soundtrack titles were revealed, with Amazon Germany offering 30 second previews of the tracks, which to the credit of all invoked do not contain spoilers.

Globe-trotter unveiled their line of 007 related luggage. And a new TV spot was released.

Tonight sees the first preview to invited media guests, so expect the first reviews in a few hours time.

The first thing to note today is that it is Global James Bond Day! 50 years ago today Dr No was released on the big screen. What an achievement!

This week has been packed full of news on Skyfall. Firstly, Adele was as good as confirmed when the cover for the title theme appeared on the official 007 website, and later confirmed on October 1st, with the announcement that it would be released today at 0:07, as had been widely predicted. A 90 second portion of the single was later leaked online and then this morning at 7 minutes past midnight BST it was made available on Adele's website and available from iTunes. It hit the #1 spot in 30 territories inside 10 hours, and almost certain to go to number 1 in the UK.

A new video covering the filming of a sequence on an underwater stage at Pinewood was released. Naomie Harris spoke to the Daily Mail about her role, and Sony unveiled their tie-in ad, featuring Daniel Craig. Today the interwebs have been going crazy with Bond related articles.

Skyfall news roundup: September 28 2012

A new Skyfall TV spot was aired during the Emmys last Sunday in the US, which lasts just 30 seconds. Meanwhile Omega watches released an ad featuring shots from Skyfall, as well as a new watch. Also, and number of new photos from Skyfall were released by Sony Netherlands.
